On this page we are going to look at how these different types of metal which we looked at on the previous page are made and used in common everyday objects. We are going to look at both ferrous and non-ferrous metal uses. Make sure to read through all the information because you will have to complete an activity at the end!
Where would we find ferrous metals in use?
There are many uses for ferrous metal and its uses due to its properties and characteristics of which we looked at on the previous page. As previously stated, ferrous metals all contain iron and therefore are magnetic. Watch this video below about the application of this type of metal into everyday objects.
How many Applications and uses of Metals do you know of?
At Home and in school, look around for objects which are made from metal. What type of metal are they made from? What properties of metal make it right for this object?
Above in the picture bar I have shown some examples of how metal is used in: aeroplanes, jewellery, cars and in packaging.
Can you find any more uses of metal?

CREATIVE TASK
Select a metal from the previous page either ferrous or non ferrous and design a 'metal advertisement' showing its properties and characteristics, uses and applications and consideration when manufacturing with this material.
Be as creative possible. Think of you favourite TV advertisement, what does it include that engages you as a consumer of this product?
There are no set formats you can make it as a poster, short video or even audio/radio advertisement.
